Ford to Release All-Electric SUV Inspired by the Mustang

Recently, Ford put into action an initiative to release more all-electric models for more efficient and emission-free driving. One of the most exciting developments in the works is an electric SUV inspired by the Mustang.

Springfield Ford wants to give drivers near Springfield, Glenolden, and Swarthmore an inside look at what to expect with this latest edition to the Ford family, so we put together this preview. Read on to learn more about the anticipated range as well as the FordPass Charging Network.1

What Can You Expect from This SUV?

Little is known about this electric SUV, including its official name, but what has been released is sure to draw you in. Ford estimates it will able to travel a maximum of 370 miles on one charge alone, comparable to the ranges of their gas model SUVs. For example, the 2020 Ford Edge boasts an EPA-estimated 21 MPG city and 29 MPG highway, allowing you to travel around 388 city miles before needing to make a gas station stop.

Additionally, Ford has stated this vehicle will come standard with an at home charger to give you a 23-mile boost per hour of charging when using a 240-volt electrical outlet. You'll easily be able to charge up your ride overnight for a smooth morning commute.

This electric crossover is also said to be taking its styling cues from the Mustang, so you can expect a bold, aggressive design that's sure to turn heads. Recently, Ford released a video of a camouflaged prototype of this vehicle, and it appears to sport a similar front grille to the Mustang with a longer overhang and shorter rear, similar in stature to the Edge.

The FordPass Charging Network

With so many new electric models set for their lineup, Ford made an exciting announcement about their plans to establish a FordPass Charging Network, which will include 12,000 charging stations around the country. Ford estimates their 150-kW fast chargers will be able to add 47 miles of range in just 10 minutes or a 0 percent to 80 percent charge in only 45 minutes. You'll be able to plan road trips with an added peace of mind.

Unlike typical charging station networks, FordPass Charging Network will not require a membership. For even more convenience, you can pay for your charge through the helpful FordPass app. In addition to the application current remote access capabilities, you'll also be able to use it to find nearby available charge stations that aren't in use.
